Ashkal Naveed

Ashkal’s work is heavily influenced by cubism, with his series delving into themes related to the senses. Sight, sound, and smell are thoroughly explored, as evidenced by the inclusion of musical instruments, flowers, birds, and butterflies. He particularly focuses on the hypnotic effects of music, heightened by the siren-like quality of his women. The decorative elements in his pieces are intriguing; while they possess a thoroughly modern, angular, cubist style, they also evoke ancient Egyptian or Mesoamerican motifs.
